Paid Parental Leave – Birth or Adoption Information

The purpose of this program is to provide paid parental time off work to eligible employees for bonding time after qualifying births and adoptions. This program supports Bronson’s commitment to work/family issues and is consistent with our statement of values. The purpose of paid parental time is to give parents additional flexibility and time to care for their newborn or newly placed child for adoption.

Eligibility
Employees eligible for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Leave of Absence, with at least one year of service for Bronson, and in an approved-hour position of at least 48 hours may apply for paid parental time. See FMLA policy D-100 for further eligibility requirements for FMLA Leave of Absence coverage.

Adoption
Four consecutive weeks for the placement of a child and bonding time with a newly adopted child paid at the employee's short-term disability benefit rate for their approved hours. Paid adoption time must begin within 60 days of the date of placement.

Birth (Partner)
Two consecutive weeks to bond with a newly born child paid at the employee's short-term disability benefit rate for their approved hours. Paid birth partner time must begin within 60 days of the date of the birth, or within 30 days of a newborn release if discharged past 60 days of birth.

Birth (Maternity)
Two consecutive weeks to bond with a newly born child paid at the employee's short-term disability benefit rate for their approved hours. Paid birth partner time must begin within 60 days of the date of the birth, or within 30 days of a newborn release if discharged past 60 days of birth.

Coordination With Other Leave and Benefits
Paid parental time will happen at the same time as FMLA leave and also coordinate with Short-Term Disability (STD) and available Paid Time Off (PTO). In addition, employees can choose to supplement paid parental time that is less than 100% of their base wage with PTO so that they receive 100% of their base wage.
